Carrie Underwood is shamed for wearing cosmetics to her son's soccer game, a year after the accident that permanently scarred her face.
Carrie Underwood is being criticized by some of her fans for wearing a full face of makeup to her son's soccer game. On Saturday, the 35-year-old singer was on hand to root for her three-year-old son Isaiah as he played, and she proudly shared a selfie after the match to boast about the goals the little boy scored.
But while she was focused on her kid's burgeoning athletic prowess and her first official turn as a 'soccer mom,' a few naysayers commented to tell her she'd put too much effort into her appearance. In the image, Carrie looks up at the camera, dressed in a long-sleeve shirt and fleece vest while carrying a coffee cup. Her blonde hair is up in a messy bun, and her makeup looks natural but impeccable: flawless skin with a bit of blush, neutral pink lips, sculpted brows, and false lashes. Carrie is likely used to taking the time to do her makeup no matter where she goes due to the constant threat that fans or paparazzi will snap her photo. But some of her followers seem to think she should behave like other moms — and think that normal moms don't wear so much on their faces to watch their kids play sports.
'Who wears that much makeup to a soccer game? You're gorgeous and do not need it,' wrote one, who seemed to think she was paying Carrie a compliment. 'Full on make-up for a soccer game. It's caked on,' complained another, while a third wrote, 'Wish you'd use less makeup. You're SO incredibly beautiful... you just don't need all that.' 'Just weird Carrie has to be totally camera ready for EVERY shot,' complained another. Added one more: 'Real sport moms don't wear 20lbs of makeup on their face to games and practices.' And another: 'You're obviously insecure if you have to get that dolled up for a soccer game. What do you do if it's raining? Sit in the car so your face doesn't run off? While there were certainly a number of critics, though, Carrie had many more supporters, who told off the anti-makeup brigade and applauded Carrie for looking gorgeous. 'Some people just have to be critical of people that take pride in how they look when they leave the house,' wrote one. 'Maybe they need to follow your standard. 'My mom always came to all my school functions & basketball & softball games with make up on!' wrote another.
'I go to my son's functions with make up on!! Who cares!! [sic]' 'Why are people so mad that she's wearing makeup to a soccer game. Being a soccer mom doesn't mean she needs to become lazy or fit the mold of others and not do her hair or makeup and look a mess at games,' wrote another. 'Those posting negative comments about her are jealous and insecure mothers who likely don't put the few minutes it takes to look like this into themselves. Shame on any mothers who think cyber bullying is OK,' wrote another. Carrie, meanwhile, hasn't responded to the haters. Her only message was the one captioning the picture in the first place. 'Officially a soccer mom this morning,' she wrote. 'It’s chilly out but I’m staying warm rocking some @caliabycarrie. 'The kids played a good game,' she continued, 'Isaiah scored two goals for his team...and one for the other team. Hey, a goal’s a goal! ⚽️' The cruel comments from followers come less than one year after Carrie was involved in a freak accident at her home in Nashville that left her face permanently scarred. Although little was known about the incident at the time, Carrie has since revealed that she tumbled down some stairs, and broke her wrist in the process, in addition to the facial injuries she sustained.
In the months that followed, Carrie underwent treatment for her injuries, and spoke out to tell her fans that she may 'look a little different' as a result of the surgeries that she had to undergo. 'It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life,' she wrote to her fans earlier this year. 'I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.' The accident happened a few days after she co-hosted and performed at the 51st Country Music Association Awards Show in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 8. Carrie shares three-and-a-half year old Isaiah with NHL star Mike Fisher, and the couple announced in August that they are expecting another addition to their family. Recently Carrie shared that her current pregnancy has been 'harder on my body for some reason' than the previous one had been. 'It's definitely different than the first time.
When they say every pregnancy is different, it really is. Just different symptoms,' Carrie, 35, told Entertainment Tonight.
