A prowler has been arrested after he was captured on surveillance cameras peering through a 17-year-old girl's bedroom window and scribbling vulgar notes about her body on the glass.
The teenage suspect turned himself into Sanford Police in Florida on Tuesday - a day after authorities released the surveillance video in a bid to identify him. Police said he was brought in by his parents before being charged with prowling and criminal trespass.
'Investigators were told by the suspect's family that they became aware of the incident after seeing it shared,' Sanford Police said in a tweet. Authorities were first alerted to the prowler on July 8 when they were called to a home about the writing left on the girl's bedroom window in the middle of the night.
Police then set up surveillance cameras and caught the offender five days later. The girl's mother, Juanica Fernandes, told WKMG that the prowler first started leaving innocent notes for the teen in the mailbox a month ago. It escalated with the note written in marker on the window. 'He basically described how he felt about my daughter's body parts and how it made him feel - in a nasty way,' Fernandes said.
'There's an impression of his face on her window. Creepiest thing is to see someone's left ear and face pressed against your daughter's window, directly pointed at her bed.' Before the note was found written in marker on the window, the girl had told her mother she felt like someone was watching her. The teen suspect has not been identified.
