Kanye West says he identifies with late designer Alexander McQueen as he reveals how coped with suicidal thoughts.
Kanye West opened up on Friday about how he identifies with the late Alexander McQueen, amid inner turmoil in which he's debated about taking his own life.
The Grammy-winner, 41, posted a series of tweets after watching the Showtime documentary McQueen, which detailed the life and death of fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who fatally hanged himself in London on February 11, 2010. 'I saw the Alexander McQueen documentary and I connected with his journey,' the All Mine performer wrote. 'I know how it feels to want to take your life back into your own hands even if it means taking your own life.'
To make this clear and not weird I’ve had these kinds of thoughts and I’m going to tell you things I’ve done to stay in a content place.' The Famous singer offered his fans a piece of advice in regards to keeping oneself mentally balanced.'How to NOT kill yourself pt 1,' the Runaway singer tweeted. 'Avoid being around people who make you want to kill yourself.'
The Yikes artist earlier opened up about past suicidal thoughts he'd dealt with in a chat with The New York Times, while discussing his track I Thought About Killing You from his latest album, Ye.The father-of-three - daughter North, five, son Saint, two, and five-month-old daughter Chicago, with wife Kim Kardasian, 37 - told the newspaper, 'Oh yeah, I’ve thought about killing myself all the time. It’s always a option and [expletive].
'Like Louis C.K. said: I flip through the manual. I weigh all the options.' West clarified that he didn't take any measures of self-harm after comprehensively examining the situation.'I’m just having this epiphany now, ’cause I didn’t do it, but I did think it all the way through,' he explained. 'But if I didn’t think it all the way through, then it’s actually maybe more of a chance of it happening.'
He told the paper that he connected with motivational guru Tony Robbins amid a difficult time in his life, and how perceptive the celebrity life coach was to his rough patch. 'He could look at me and you know, I don't know why he mentioned suicide, but he could tell that I was very low. Really medicated, shoulders slumped down, and my confidence was gone, which is a lot of the root of my superpower, because if you truly have self-confidence, no one can say anything to you.'
