IT was a sad weekend at Ifelemenu, Ekpaomaka in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, as a 23-year-old man, Julius Nwigboaka, went berserk, killing his father, Chief Nwode Nwigboaka and his sister (name withheld).
The suspect also inflicted machete cuts on six other residents of the area, before he was gunned down by the husband of one of the victims of his attack. A source, who simply identified himself as Ekoyo, said the suspect had taken hard drugs when he came into the house and killed his father, who asked him where he had been since. According to Ekoyo, “when he was attacking his father with machete, Julius’ sister came out and asked him while he was attacking their father. He then descended on her. “About six neighbours, who saw what happened and wanted to intervene, were attacked by Julius with the machete. “As he was leaving the area wielding the machete, a man called Peter whose wife was among those inflicted with machete injuries, went inside his house, brought his gun and shot him. He died instantly.” The corpses have been deposited at Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, while the injured are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
