New York couple, aged 98 and 100, die two days apart after 78 years of marriage.
A New York couple has passed away within two days of each other after being married for 78 years.
On July 20 98-year-old Evelyn Bennett Drake passed away and two days later her husband 100-year-old Gilbert Orzell Drake died. The two died of natural causes with their family at their sides in their home in Delmar, near Albany, New York.
The number two is a powerful coincidence in the pair's love story as the duo was also born two years and two days apart from each other. Their family say that Evelyn would have turned 99 on August 9 and her husband 101 on August 10.
Their granddaughter Elizabeth Officer says the Drakes tied the knot on October 13, 1939. The couple is survived by their two sons and a daughter as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A private graveside family service is planned.
