Two off-duty NYPD officers die in wedding day crash after their rented Maserati hit a tree just hours after one of the men got married


Two off-duty police officers have been killed in a car crash in New York just hours after one of the men had gotten married. 

Groom Michael Colangelo, 31, and his friend John M. Martinez, 39, both died when  their rented Maserati crashed into a tree in Ulster County in upstate New York on Sunday night.
The crash occurred less than a mile from where Colangelo and his wife Katherine had just hosted their wedding reception at the Full Moon Resort in the Catskills.

Colangelo was an NYPD canine officer and Martinez worked at Brooklyn's 84th Precinct.
Both men, who lived in Long Island, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third man, aged 28, was also in the car at the time and was rushed to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not given any indication on the cause of the crash.
