A bar owner who lied about an Asian sex mob running riot in his German club has been arrested for murdering a woman who helped him carry out the hoax.
The body of Irina Aizina was found dumped in a field by a dog walker on Wednesday.
Frankfurt businessman Jan Mai, 50, was arrested on Friday for her murder, with him expecting to appear before a local judge this week.
Last year Mai hit the headlines when he falsely claimed Muslim refugees stormed his venue the First In and groped female revellers.
At the time Irina echoed the false claims, appearing in a number of German news outlets describing how she was pinned down and sexually assaulted by the mob.
After the publicity plan backfired, Mai closed the bar which Estonian national Irina reportedly invested in, according to the Daily Beast.
Local media reports say Irina agreed to meet Mai this week to discuss money.
