Six workers are injured in fire and explosion at chemical plant in Texas

An explosion Saturday morning at a Texas chemical plant left multiple people injured, the company said in a statement.

The explosion happened around 10.43am central time at Kuraray America, Inc's EVAL facility in Pasadena.
The company, which specializes in 'chemical, fiber and resin production', confirmed the explosion in a statement on Facebook saying that approximately 250 employees and contracted personnel were onsite at the plant when the fire and explosion occurred.
Earlier reports indicated that one person was missing and more than 20 workers were injured, including two who had to be airlifted to the hospital for serious burns.
Kuraray, however, said all employees had been accounted for and six were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
'Officials with Kurary america, Inc. confirm that a fire occurred at the company's EVAL facility in Pasadena, Texas. The fire has been extinguished and there is no threat to the surrounding area,' the statement read.
'The company is fully cooperating with all local authorities and emergency response teams and will provide additional information as it becomes available and is confirmed.'
