Woman, 39, is arrested for 'fatally slitting nurse's throat' at upscale Los Angeles mall in suspected random attack that shocked the community

A suspect has been arrested in the throat
slitting murder of a nurse at an upscale mall
outside of Los Angeles.

Cheri Lynette Townsend, 39, was booked for murder on Thursday in connection with the May 3 killing of 66-year-old Susan Leeds in the parking garage of a Rolling Hills, California mall.
Leeds' body was found inside her white 2016 Mercedes Benz SUV in the parking garage of Promenade on the Peninsula, a trendy shopping mall in the wealthy enclave.
Although remaining tight lipped about many details of the case, police said in a televised
Friday press conference that the crime was apparently random, with robbery as a motive.
