University of Minnesota football players won't face charges in sexual assault investigation even though prosecutors say their behavior was 'deplorable'.

Minnesota players are seen above celebrating their 17-12 win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Tuesday. A Minnesota prosecutor announced on Friday that no criminal charges would be brought against 10 players in an alleged sexual assault case.

Ten suspended Minnesota football players will not face charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault near campus, prosecutors announced Friday after taking a second look at the case.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman had previously declined to charge the players in connection with the September incident that triggered suspensions, possible expulsions, talk of a bowl game boycott and questions of whether head coach Tracy Claeys should continue with the Gopher football program.
But the school's own investigation unearthed the troubling details of the female victim's sexual assault by 10 to 20 men on the team after their season-opening victory.

After reviewing that report, Freeman stood by his November decision, saying the school's investigation didn't add sufficient evidence to warrant criminal charges.

You've never seen a doggy paddle like THIS! Golden retriever is an expert SURFER and takes disabled children out on the water.

Boy, 13, to have his leg amputated after teacher 'BODY-SLAMMED him to the floor three times on his first day of school, then sent him home without medical attention or telling his mom'.

A teenage boy from Columbus, Georgia, will have his right leg amputated today after a teacher allegedly body-slammed him to the floor three times, causing nerve damage.

Montravious Thomas, 13, was attending Edgewood Student Services Center on September 12 when Bryant Mosley 'had to physically restrain a student... due to behavioral issues,' a Columbus Police Department report said.

But an attorney representing Thomas and his mother says Mosley repeatedly threw the boy to the ground then sent him home without medical attention or telling his mom, The Ledger-Enquirer reported.

Thomas was attending the AIM program, which hosts children who have been temporarily removed from their regular schools due to disruptive behavior, when the incident happened.

It was his first day at the program, according to WTVM.

According to Renee Tucker, who represents Thomas and his mom Lawanda, the boy was trying to leave class to call his mom when Mosley, a behavioral specialist, stopped him.

Mosley then threw him to the floor for an 'unknown reason,' Tucker said, and did it again when the boy tried to leave again.

Tucker also claims that Eddie Powell, the assistant principal, saw the violence at one point, an that a school resource officer saw Thomas limping away but didn't help or file a report.

The attorney also says that the school talked about calling for an ambulance, but then decided against it, and that Mosley then put the boy on a bus home without calling his family.

'Doctors talked to him and his mother on Sunday and told him they were having to take his leg since they were unable to improve the flow of blood to his lower leg.

The family will be pursuing a lawsuit, Tucker said, and that early filing notices put the figure at $5million.

A man has burned a hole in his throat after trying to eat the world's hottest chilli, a medical journal has revealed.
The 47-year-old American ate a burger smothered in a puree made of Bhut jolokia - luminous orange chillies that grow in India, also known as ghost peppers.
Within seconds, the man began to vomit.
His vomiting continued so violently that he eventually tore a hole in his esophagus.

The 47-year-old American ate a burger smothered in a puree made of Bhut jolokia - luminous chillies that grow in India, also known as ghost peppers. He ended up with a feeding tube.
It was not until he began reeling on the floor in pain that he was taken to the emergency room.

Doctors performed an abdomen and pelvic scan that revealed a build up of air, fluid and food inside his body.
Eventually he was wheeled into the operated room where surgeons discovered a 2.5cm tear in the left side of his throat.

According to the Journal of Emergency Medicine, the man was given a tube to aid his breathing for 14 days as he recovered.

He then spent another nine days in hospital before he was eventually discharged - with a feeding tube in place.

Writing in the Journal, medics said: 'This case serves as an important reminder of a potentially life- threatening surgical emergency initially interpreted as discomfort after a large spicy meal.'

Few people survive a tear in the esophagus, a medical complication known as Boerhaave syndrome.

It was first reported in 1724 by a Dutch doctor called Herman Boerhaave.
With very few typical symptoms, it is difficult to diagnose before it is too late.
After a while, sufferers commonly develop potentially fatal shocks or sepsis.

However, around a third of cases happen under unusual circumstances.
It is not clear how the ghost pepper prompted the man's esophagus to rupture - whether it was the inflammation, the retching, something else, or a combination of factors.

Ghost peppers have a Scoville rating of more than one million.
To put that in perspective: a sweet bell pepper has 0, Tabasco has 100, and Jalapeno has 2,500.

Samsung refuses to use outside labs to test its batteries: Claims self-testing could not have led to battery crisis.

Smartphone manufacturers selling their products through major US carriers all put their batteries to the test at external labs approved by the CTIA – that is, except for Samsung.

In the midst of the firm’s massive recall of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, which is set to cost at least $5.3 billion and has been called an ‘environmental disaster,’ it has been revealed that Samsung tests its products at an in-house lab.

Though the facility is certified by the CTIA, the move makes Samsung the only such manufacturer that does not use an independent battery testing site, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

A Samsung Note 7 handset is positioned for testing in the lab (left), then later catches fire after pressure is applied to its fully charged battery (right). The testers later claimed that the same would happen to 'any phone' under these conditions.

Smartphone manufacturers selling in the US all go through one of 28 labs certified by the US wireless industry’s trade group, the CTIA, according to the report.
Other tech giants, including Apple, use third-party CTIA labs.

On Friday, Samsung said it will be making ‘significant changes’ in its quality assurance process to improve the safety of its devices.
The firm, however, did not elaborate on how this would be done.

When manufacturers test their own products rather than going through a third party, they often run the risk creating conflicts of interests, Eddie Forouzan, of the IEEE committee that developed the battery standard, tells WSJ.
Doing this, however, can help to protect company secrets and even get the product out faster.

A man in Union, Missouri, has been arrested after he allegedly convinced several women to buy him expensive cars as a part of a dating app scam.
Timothy Rossell, 28, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with one count of impersonating a federal officer and four counts of identity theft.

Rossell was allegedly convincing women across the country to buy him cars on the dating app Plenty Of Fish.
After driving the cars for a while, Rossell would sell them and tell the women the vehicles had been stolen, KMOV reported.

Timothy Rossell, 28, of Missouri, was taken into custody on Thursday after he assumed fake identities and convinced several women to spend thousands on luxury cars for him.

The 28-year-old was living under the identity of U.S. marshal Austyn Gardner with a 27-year-old fiancee, the St Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

With his assumed identity, Rossell convinced his finacee to buy him a Cadillac Escalade, a Shelby Mustang, and a Can-Am Spyder. He also opened credit cards in her names and accumulated thousands in debt.

When the woman discovered the charges, along with federal IDs for Rossell under varying names, she confronted him.
Rossell then fled in a 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo, valued at $200,000.
The luxury vehicle had been purchased for Rossell by a 27-year-old woman in Ft Myers, Florida.

A woman in Fort Myers, Florida, bought Rossell a white 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo (stock image, pictured), valued at $200,000. When the woman he was living with confronted him about other identities he had assumed, he fled in the car before police caught him

The woman in Florida had purchased Rossell several cars, including a  2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (stock image, pictured), valued at $96,000, after meeting him on Plenty Of Fish

That woman knew Rossell as deputy U.S. marshal Austyn Labella and had purchased him a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, valued at $96,000, and had also loaned him $27,000 in addition to the Lamborghini.
A third woman in Pennsylvania had also fallen victim to Rossell.

All three women met the Missouri man on the Plenty Of Fish daring app.
After fleeing in the Lamborghini, police arrested Rossell in Effingham, Illinois, as he attempted to buy a bus ticket.

The car had blown a tire.

Rossell has an extensive criminal history and has assumed numerous identities.
He was previously charged with auto theft and impersonating both Pennsylvania and Missouri state law enforcement personnel in 2014.
