You've never seen a doggy paddle like THIS! Golden retriever is an expert SURFER and takes disabled children out on the water.

A golden retriever is proving that there is more to doggy paddle than a simple swim in the sea.

Ricochet is a champion surfer who puts his talents on the board to good use by teaching disabled children how to surf.

Parents of children, suffering from a range of conditions from autism to physical impairments, have been shocked at how the dog encourages them into the sea.

Parents of children, suffering from a range of conditions from autism to physical impairments, have been shocked at how the dog encourages them into the sea.

Julie Fridono, his handler, said: 'She alerts to their anxiety, I guess she can feel it, know what they're feeling.'

Kevin Carter, a volunteer for children's charity Best Day, said: 'Ricochet makes children feel more comfortable. When they see a dog out there that can surf, they think "hey, I can do that too".'

One parent, who watched her son surf for the first time, said: 'He was really worried because he has a lot of anxiety but as soon as he saw the dog on the surfboard, he just jumped on that surfboard like nobody's business and stood on it, which I couldn't even believe.'

Ricochet filmed with charity Best Day in California, but it won't be his last on-screen appearance. He is also set to star in a 3D movie for IMAX screens called Superpower Dogs, featuring the heroic work of canines.
