Reconstructive gynecological surgeon accused of manslaughter after his patient, 30, bled to death following a botched abortion.

A New York City physician is accused of causing the death of a patient in a botched abortion.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Tuesday that Dr. Robert Rho - a specialist in vaginal rejuvenation - has been indicted on a manslaughter charge.

Authorities allege the 30-year-old patient died on July 9 after undergoing a botched abortion procedure at Liberty Women's Clinic in Flushing, Queens.

Rho, a Columbia-trained Reconstructive gynecological surgeon, reportedly nicked the unidentified patients cervix during the procedure, causing her to bleed so much in the recovery room that they were forced to do another procedure.

Even after that though, Rho let her leave the health facility, despite the fact that she continued to bleed, collapsed at least once and appeared disoriented.

Dr. Robert Rho has been accused of manslaughter after one of his patients bled to death after a botched abortion.

As she was driving back to her sister's Bronx apartment, the woman passed out and an ambulance was called.

She was given six units of blood in the ambulance but bled to death anyway.
Rho's attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, called the death a 'tragedy'.

Lichtman says the doctor is highly respected has been performing abortions safely and carefully for 23 years without any issues.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if he's convicted.
