'The Mayor of Lagos’, a first-time project by Mayorkun, has debuted on the Billboard world albums chart as number 15 on the chart topped by EXO.
Mayorkun, born Adewale Mayowa, released his debut solo album on November 16th and it contains 15 tracks. It features popular names like D’banj, Davido, Patoranking, Sarkodie and members of the DMW record label. Prior to the release of ‘The Mayor of Lagos’, Mayorkun had put out a number of hit singles including his debut effort, ‘Eleko’.
Three previously released songs, ‘Bobo’, ‘Che Che’ and ‘Mama’, are also included in the album. The singer on Friday took to Instagram to acknowledge the feat of making the world albums chart. The ‘Mama’ singer is signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), a record label owned by Afrobeats superstar, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke.
