Terrifying moment a massive landslide triggered by Typhoon Megi devours a Chinese village as rescuers search for 26 swallowed by sea of mud.

A village in eastern China was slammed by a landslide caused by rainstorms yesterday as Typhoon Megi battered the region.

As of Thursday morning local time, 13 people have been rescued, 26 remain missing and one person has been confirmed dead after a sea of mud devoured Sucun, a village of 37 houses in Suichang county in Zhejiang province, according to People's Daily Online.

A separate landslide, also triggered by rainstorms, crashed into a nearby village, leaving six residents missing.

Destroyed: Roughly 400,000 cubic meters of debris slid down the mountains and buried 20 households, said an official.

A story of miraculous luck comes from the Siberian Times, which reported this week that one Alexander Shadrin, 16, fell some 230 feet onto the roof of a Renault and survived.

Had it been a sturdier vehicle, perhaps, or had he missed the car by a few inches, the outcome could have been far more tragic.

According to the paper, witnesses said the young man was trying “to impress a girl” by climbing over a balcony and hanging on to a railing in the city of Novosibirsk.

But he lost his grip and plummeted 23 floors.

Photographs show a badly damaged Renault Logan taxi, fortunately unoccupied, which was credited with saving his life.

He was reportedly conscious after the fall and said to be in stable condition at a hospital.

“The identities of the girl he was seeking to impress, and his relatives have not been made public,” said the Times.

“He has a bruised abdomen and lung, a tear in his liver and a broken shoulder. The guy was born under a lucky star. He is stable and conscious,” a Novosibirsk investigator, Anastasiya Kuleshova, told TASS.

Trevor Noah doesn’t care if he’s ‘making too many black jokes’.

It’s no secret that when SA-born comedian Trevor Noah took over the helm of the Daily Show from Jon Stewart a year ago not everyone supported the move.

Trevor was a ‘relatively unknown’ comedian from SA who represented a dawn of change for the show.

So it is not unusual that the comedian has received a fair amount of criticism as viewers get comfortable with his style of comedy.

Trevor‚ who celebrates one year on the show this week‚ spoke to US publication Vice about his journey this far.

During the interview Trevor opened up about the backlash he’s gotten and how he’s handled it.

“I always say‚ ‘It’s like I was playing in high school or college sports‚ and this is major league.’ You can prepare all you want‚ but you’re now in a completely different league with different criticisms‚ different competition‚ and different objectives. It changes everything‚’” he said.

Trevor said that when he joined the show one of the things on top of his agenda was to introduce a level of “multiculturalism.”

The comedian says that whenever he’s been questioned about ‘jokes being too black’ he has this response.

 

“I think the biggest thing was just trying to bring in a level of multiculturalism. The one thing I acknowledged when I got here was that the show was very white. And not in a negative way. It just was what it was‚” he said.

Trevor added that when someone questioned him about jokes being ‘too black‚’ he responded with a rhetorical reply‚ questioning what a ‘black joke was.’

The comedian added that when people complain that his show focuses too much on a single topic‚ especially when its an issued like Black Lives Matter‚ he just sits back in disbelief.

“That is the level that you have in your mind? Hearing about Trump 100 times is as irritating to you as hearing about police brutality six times? Wow. That’s a problem‚” he said.

Trevor is also set to release his highly-anticipated book Born A Crime on November 15‚ which delves into Trevor’s childhood of a mixed-race child growing up during the Apartheid regime.

An air strike and artillery fire hit the two largest hospitals in rebel-held parts of Syria's Aleppo on Wednesday, in what rights groups said was a deliberate strategy of targeting civilian infrastructure.

The two hospitals were struck just before dawn, with the M10 facility hit in an air strike and the M2 facility hit with artillery fire, said Adham Sahloul of the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), which supports both hospitals.

The attacks put both facilities temporarily out of commission and left only six hospitals operational in the eastern parts of the city, Sahloul said, calling the attacks 'deliberate'. It was unclear who had carried out the bombings.

'I am in the M2 hospital now. I was inside when the entrance to the emergency room was hit. Three of my colleagues were hurt,' said Aref al-Aref, a medical assistant trapped inside.

The mother of an Indiana woman accused of kidnapping her two young children and then driving to a police station with their lifeless bodies in a car trunk described her daughter as 'evil' and said she was a bad parent.

Amber Pasztor, 29, has been charged with two preliminary counts of murder in the deaths of her daughter Liliana Hernandez, seven, and six-year-old son Rene Pasztor. 

An Amber Alert had been issued for the children in Fort Wayne Monday, saying they were 'believed to be in extreme danger.'

Five hours later, the brother and sister were found dead 70 miles away in Elkhart, Indiana, inside a car belonging to Pastorz's neighbor who was shot to death.

An autopsy Tuesday determined Liliana and Rene died of asphyxiation, Elkhart police Sgt. Chris Snyder said.

Speaking to People Magazine Tuesday, Amber Pasztor's mother, Leanna Pastorz, said she was not surprised to learn of the charges against her daughter, whom she labeled 'evil.'

'We thought she was crazy,' Leanne Pasztor said of her 29-year-old daughter, who had lost custody of her two children more than a year ago due to drug addiction. 'I think her thought was, "If she can't have them, nobody can."' 

Liliana and Rene, who according to their grandmother were scared of their mother, moved in with another relative, Emily Lasko Green, and were apparently happy in their new home.

Green told the website that she had gone through 'hell' to gain custody of the brother and sister, whom she described as 'wonderful.' 

'They were our babies,' Green said. 'God gave us babies and she took them away.' 

Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon that he expected to formally charge Amber Pasztor in the deaths of the children later this week.

'It's a senseless tragedy,' Hill said. 

Pastorz was due in court for a probable cause hearing Wednesday afternoon. 

The body of 65-year-old Frank Macomber was found early Tuesday morning by an FBI agent searching the area near the home where the two children were abducted.

Macomber's daughter says he was neighbors with Pasztor, who used to make him drive her around. When his photo was released in the Amber Alert on Monday, his daughter feared that he was being used against his will.

A prosecutor said Macomber probably died before the children were abducted.

After Pasztor's arrest, police continued to search for Macomber. They tried his home, but had no luck, and then focused on the area around the home where the kids' were abducted.

Canadian-based Nigerian doctor suspended for inappropriate sexual behaviors.

Adekunle Williams Owolabi, a Nigerian medical doctor practising in Canada, has been suspended for inappropriate behavior.

Owolabi was found guilty of professional misconduct after four female patients accused him of making sexual comments and inappropriate kissing and hugging.

While carrying out a pap test, the physician asked a female patient if her preference was “big ones or small ones”.

Elizabeth Mate, the doctor who led the disciplinary tribunal, said his comments were “cavalier and unprofessional”.

Huffington Post reports that in a six-day hearing carried out earlier this year, the doctor who graduated in 2000, denied any wrongdoing.

However, in each of the four complaints Owolabi was found to have shown a lack of respect for his patients.

Ruth Trask, a lawyer representing the college, suggested that Owolabi engaged in a pattern of behaivour and argued for an eight-month suspension with strong reprimand.

Owolabi has 30 days to lodge an appeal with the trial division of the supreme court of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Asides being suspended for six months, the Nigeria-trained doctor must undergo training on doctor-patient boundaries and pay 75,000 dollars for hearing costs.

When he resumes work, Owolabi must have a chaperone with him while seeing female patients for two years.

He suffered a stroke two weeks ago and his condition improved before a sudden deterioration on Tuesday.

Mr Peres, who was one of the last of a generation of Israeli politicians present at the new nation's birth in 1948, served twice as the country's prime minister and once as president.

He won the Nobel Peace prize in 1994 for his role negotiating peace accords with the Palestinians a year earlier.

He once said the Palestinians were Israel's "closest neighbours" and might become its "closest friends".

Mr Peres shared his Nobel Peace Prize with Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was later assassinated, and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

At the start of his long political career, he was put in charge of personnel and arms purchases for the Haganah, the predecessor of the Israel Defense Forces.

He secured a deal with France to supply the new Israeli nation with Mirage jet fighters. He also set up Israel's secret nuclear facility.

Once an advocate of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, Peres later became a leading political dove. He often spoke of the need for compromise over territorial demands in Palestinian areas.

On November 6, 2012, Trump tweeted, "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."

Over a year later, Trump tweeted in response to weather reports, "Snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record setting freezing temperatures throughout the country and beyond. Global warming is an expensive hoax!"

And Trump's doubts have continued into the campaign season.

Last September, when he was seeking the Republican nomination, Trump told CNN that while he supports clean air and water, "I am not a believer in climate change."

Trump went on to refute the connection between climate change and a rise in extreme weather phenomenon.

"Weather changes," Trump said. "And you have storms, and you have rain, and you have beautiful days, but I do not believe that we should imperil the companies within our country. And by the way, China is doing nothing."

In March, Trump took a more nuanced approach, telling a Washington Post editorial board that he doesn't believe climate change is the result of man-made causes.

"I think there's a change in weather," he said. "I am not a great believer in man-made climate change. I'm not a great believer."

And while Trump has repeated the hoax line on multiple occasions, he's walked back the assertion that it was created by the Chinese, saying he meant that as a joke ... sort of.

"I often joke that this is done for the benefit of China," Trump said on Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "Obviously, I joke, but this is done for the benefit of China, because China does not do anything to help climate change."

While Trump doubts the validity of climate change, his company has prepared for it. According to a Politico report, Trump International Golf Links applied for a permit to build a sea wall at his golf course in Ireland to protect it from "global warming and its effects."

Our verdict: True. While Trump has wavered on the cause of climate change, he has repeatedly denied its existence and called it a hoax.

About 50 children have been raped in the state in the past four months alone, according to a shocking data disclosed by Plateau State Government:

"Our records show 50 recent cases of rape in the state. This is just within the last four months or so," Mrs. Rufina Gurumyen, state commissioner for Women Affairs told newsmen in Jos, ahead of the launch of the state initiative to End Violence Against the Children (EndVAC), later this week. The initiative is a national child protection campaign funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
