Selfless teacher promises to donate her kidney to 10-year-old pupil at her school after Facebook appeal

  Tanya Thomas, a fourth-grade teacher at Slate Ridge Elementary School, heroically volunteered her organ when she learned of Eva Evans's plight on Facebook.

  A family friend had posted a message asking for potential donors to come forward.

  Ms Thomas courageously began undergoing tests to see if she could give her kidney to Eva - and learned she was a match.
